Making Dreams Come True: One Child at a Time
Some say Central is a magical place. We believe in the power of our dreams. We all have wishes and we are using our education to make them come true!
MISSION: Create the conditions in public schools in which all children become ACTIVELY literate, contributing, participating members of our democratic society who read, write, compute, engage in science and health and wellness activities. Our children will leave us and use their literate power for multiple purposes and audiences to make a positive difference and contribution in our world.
We believe that if you change your story you can change your life. Our intention for this website is to broadcast the new story of public education in urban America. The story that is usually told is not our story. This is a new story. It is one of belief, power, hopes and dreams.
We believe in academic excellence first which is why THE CENTRAL WAY begins with WORK HARD. We commit to high standards and higher than expected test results for all of our children. We stand behind our results and work collaboratively to create solutions that produce results in significant and measurable academic growth for every child.
Want to get involved? Spread our story. The minute you hear someone complain about public education and failure of the urban poor show them our story. Show them our children. See, we believe all children can learn. We believed it before others even dared to dream it. Some need to see in order to believe.
We, the staff at Central, know the power of a dream. We see ourselves as keepers of the dream as we empower our children to become actively literate members of our democratic society where ALL children use reading, writing and mathematical literacy to participate. Our students will follow their dreams and make countless contributions. We start with small dreams like, I want more ladybugs at my school. We believe in our dreams. As we see them come true, we learn to wish again and we see how to create our vision one dream and one wish at a time.
